Eid Mubarak from Pine 2
This week the children have been learning about Islam and the special celebration of Eid. They had the opportunity to experience Islamic prayer and traditional dance. They also made gratitude cards which they hung up on a tree in Nature’s Den. They really enjoyed it.
Birch 2’s fabulous rockets
As part of their Science week activities, Birch 2 have been making bottle rockets for the rocket competition. They worked together to make and decorate them and enjoying seeing them on display as part of the whole school competition.
Elm 1 get messy!
To introduce our new Science topic, Elm used their Messy Play session to explore the textures of wet and dry soil. They used shovels and their hands to fill up small pots, plant the seed, then water it. The pupils used visuals to support with the sequence where needed.
Ash 1 find Zog!
Music in Mind visit Early Learners
Early Learners have enjoyed a visit from our friends at Music in Mind. Music in Mind is run by two experienced musicians, singers, qualified teacher and performers who are gaining popularity facilitating fully interactive and inclusive music sessions. Ian and Al visit us every week to deliver music sessions to learners in KS2 and put on a performance for the whole school once a term.
Early Learners loved listening to an ensemble of Nursery Rhymes and having the chance to show off their groovy moves!
Baking Club
New to our PSHE groups this term is Baking. The pupils are building on skills learnt within their DT lessons such as reading recipes, measuring out ingredients and choosing equipment with a purpose in mind. Consolidating these life skills is a prior for the pupils at Rowan Tree Primary giving them tools to become more independent learners.
Family Easter Egg Hunt
The rain didn’t spoil our fun at our Family Easter Egg hunt this morning. We searched for eggs and Easter clues and then had Easter outdoor activities in nature’s den before having a hot cross bun and a chocolate egg as our treat for hard work.
We had a lovely morning thank you so much for everyone attending!
Feel The Beat Workshop
This morning a group of pupils from our Sing and Sign choir have enjoyed meeting Alison from the Wigan Music Service whom has introduced us to a series of songs that we will hopefully go on to perform with five hundred other pupils from Primary School choirs from across Wigan within a live concert.
Alison first introduced us scat, also called Scat Singing, in music, jazz vocal style using emotive, onomatopoeic, and nonsense syllables instead of words in solo improvisations on a melody. Alison explained that all the different pieces we would perform would be within this genre.
