Goodbye and Good luck Year Six

A fond farewell to all our Year Six pupils as they set off on the next stage of their journey.

Here are a couple of snapshots from over the years and a few messages from staff:

Year Six have this year also created a video of their own:

Ice Cream Extravaganza

On the last week of the academic year Barbara our Well-being and Hospitality lead organised an Ice Cream van to come to school for staff to enjoy over lunch time.

Pupils also had great fun accessing the Rowan Reward Cafe, hosted by Kathryn Oliver and the school council. We had great fun enjoying the tasty treats which we chose ourselves including but not limited to ice creams!

Final Curtain Call

The Sing and Sign choir have taken their final bow of the 2021-2022 academic year.

We have had immense fun learning lots of new signs with friends from across the whole of school. We’re super proud of all they’ve achieved, from choosing the songs they wished to learn, to performing for members of our local community.

Thank You School Council!

Wow! what an amazing year the School Council have had! They have defiantly fulfilled out motto of being ‘mature, confident and kind’
They have been wonderful role models for other pupils in school as well as organising fantastic Reward Days!
Well done everyone and a massive thank you from everyone at Rowan Tree!

‘Understanding restricted diets’ workshop

We looked at the development of normal feeding skills and why some children develop a preference for certain food. We had fun rating and tasting different foods and looked at the practical strategies that parents and carers can use at home, and that we use here at school. A great afternoon – thank you all for attending

Afternoon Tea for Parents/Carers

Thanks to all the parents who came to share our afternoon tea today. It was lovely to see you all and I know you all enjoyed the cakes Barbara our School’ Wellbeing and Hospitality Lead made for you as well as having a catch up.

Parents gave some fantastic suggestions for activities next year that both parents/carers and pupils will benefit from. A calendar of events will be sent out to parents in Sept to give you time to plan.

Any suggestions for family days out, fund raising ideas or any other parent ideas are always appreciated and can be forwarded to enquiries@admin.rowantree.wigan.sch.uk FOA Claire Roche.

– Claire Roche, Assistant Headteacher

Thanks for your continued support.

Visiting St Phillips Church

On Tuesday 28th June Maple 2 and Willow 2 went on a trip to visit St Phillips Church in Atherton. During their English lessons that morning, the pupils worked together to construct a list of question for Tracy the Vicar. All the pupils enjoyed this visit and learnt more about what they can see inside a religious building which links in very well to the KS2 R.E. topic for this term.
