All the way back in March, Fir 2 planted a few potatoes in the hope we might get a few potatoes to cook in the summer. Well, after lots of weeding and watering, the potato plants were ready to dig up. The children used spades to dig up the plants and discovered a bumper crop beneath the soil! We washed the potatoes, prepared and cooked them in a variety of ways: mash, chips, roasties and crisps. The children had the opportunity to engage in every step of preparation, from soil to table. They all had a taste of the potatoes and used it for fun with food in the play tray. They have learnt a lot about where potatoes come from and all the types of food they can be made into. Great job Fir 2.
Looks scrumptious, I hope we all get to taste test!
Thankyou for letting me taste your wonderful new potatoes, they were scrumptious.
Well done Fir! And thanks for sharing the end results
We enjoyed watching them grow. I’m so pleased you ended up with such a bumper crop!
