Victorian Britain Afternoon

The children in upper key stage 2 came together for a collaborative learning afternoon, to end their Victorian Britain humanities topic.
The children took part in a variety of activities; preparing a Victorian meal, playing with old toys and games, colouring and outdoor fun such as hop scotch and giant Jenga.
Everyone had a great afternoon!

KS1 Harvest Festival

Today learners in KS1 celebrated Harvest. They sang, danced and said thank you for our food by putting our food donations into a hamper ready for it to be delivered to our local Care Home to thank staff for the fantastic work they do and to share with their residents.

This was a fantastic achievement for all to sit in the hall and join in with the celebration. Well done everyone.

Thank you to all for your kind donations to make this hamper possible.

CAFT 2023… Take Two!

Rowan Tree Primary School’s Year Four students had an unforgettable experience during their second residential trip of 2023, visiting the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT). Located in the scenic Booth Bank Farm, CAFT is dedicated to providing free programs for children from across the North West.

The children CAFT serves have diverse abilities, from severe disabilities to those who’ve experienced trauma. CAFT creates a safe space where these kids can simply be children again, enjoying laughter, play, and cherished moments.

CAFT’s approach is truly special. They treat each child as an individual, ensuring that disabilities don’t hinder participation. Our students from Rowan Tree Primary School displayed exceptional behavior throughout the trip.

We’ve captured some of our favorite moments in the photos below, showcasing the pure joy and magic of CAFT’s work. It was a trip filled with heartwarming memories. May CAFT continue to be a source of happiness for our remarkable pupils, for years to come.

Rowan Tree Primary School Shines at 2023 Believe Sports Awards

Wigan Borough’s sporting community gathered in exhilaration on October 7th, 2023, for the prestigious 2023 Believe Sports Awards. The event, hosted at The Edge, celebrated the outstanding contributions, achievements, and exceptional dedication of local sports enthusiasts, from rising stars to unsung heroes. The night was made even more special with the presence of British Olympic legend Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards, who presented the coveted awards to the deserving winners.

Although Rowan Tree Primary School didn’t secure the ultimate victory, the school had every reason to be proud. “Boxing For Better,” an initiative within our school, achieved a remarkable feat by securing second place recognition for their outstanding contributions to our community.

School staff whom have ran various sports events were invited to attend the event alongside Kathryn Oliver our Deputy Head. Since joining our school, Kathryn has been at the forefront of spearheading a remarkable array of sports events that promote inclusivity and involve specialist provisions across Wigan, as well as fostering a strong sporting culture within our school.

Well done everyone!

Rowan’s first week on his timetable!

Rowan started his timetable this week working directly with different pupils from across school. He has supported their well-being and behaviour by allowing them to walk him around the local area. He also played fetch and chase with them as well as completing tricks for treats. Rowan has also been listening to children read as well as supporting them to complete their English and Maths work!
Busy week for Rowan and massive impact for our children across school!

ROWANFEST 2023

Rowanfest, our school’s annual summer fair, was an absolute blast! Uniforms were given away for free, and we had the pleasure of hosting Little Barn Farm, where students and families enjoyed some delightful animal petting. The atmosphere was electric with a tombola, live music courtesy of Music in Mind, and mouthwatering refreshments. Colorful balloons filled the sky, and inflatable obstacle courses added an extra dose of excitement.

It was amazing to see past and future pupils, alongside residents of the local area.

We’re thrilled to have shared this unforgettable day of fun, laughter, and joy with everyone who joined us at Rowanfest!

Thank you to our amazing school community for accepting the change in date which ensured we were able to have fun in the sun.

School Development

We’re incredibly excited to unveil the new Year Six department which will have finished construction in September ready for our learners preparing for their last chapter at RTP. These specially built units will resemble the provisions our pupils will be moving onto when they leave us for High School.
